A Journey Through Experience
Liz Groth, born in Elm Grove Wisconsin, curiosity about exploring the world and humankind was developed at an early age. She bicycled around Great Britain, built trails in Patagonia, rock climbed in Yosemite, traveled the Gobi Desert on horseback, and skied mountains in multiple continents while immersing herself in cultures along the way. In addition to continuing to explore new trails, Liz is very much involved in her family and local community in Albuquerque, New Mexico, since relocating in 1992. She is a passionate and compassionate wife, mother of two, Pediatric ICU Nurse for 33 years, trained dancer, chef and artist. In 2009, Liz developed her wall mosaics to create a personal dialect for her experiences.
A self-taught artisan, Liz creates pieces that are personal, thoughtful and often whimsical. Each mosaic from its conception is transformed and nurtured, inspired from human connection and the erratic world we live. Each piece lives in the present yet offers a glimpse of something more of the world through Liz’s lens of empathy, clarity and awareness.
Glass is her mosaic medium, chosen for its strength, variety of colors and transparency. When she conceives a pattern, Liz transforms the concept into hand-drawn design on wood. Next she cuts the glass and reshapes the integral, geometric pieces into one finished whole, drawing on the vibrational energy that is unique to each piece.
